The 2nd Transnational Meeting within the scope of EYE project (Enhancing Youth 18-26 Employability in Bakery Sector, 2017-1-TR01-KA205-039233) of the project was held on 16-17 April 2018 in Bucharest/Romania in the facilities of The National Institute of Research & Development for Food Bioresources (IBA). In the meeting, the project activities, schedule, budget and upcoming events were evaluated in order to ensure that the project activities are carried out on time. The training materials and handbooks created within the project (Best Bread Production, Sensory Assessment, Hygiene and Sanitation, and EU Turkey Legislation) were also discussed with the participation of all partners.
Project background
The unemployment rate among young people is considerably high both in the European Union and in Turkey. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of professional competence and low qualification which significantly impede the integration of young people into the work environment. According to the EU report as of 2015, ensuring fair and equal opportunities for young people has become one of the top priorities.
